Are there any very basic computers that provide email and Internet only and would be good for someone older?

Friday Mar 5, 2010

I’d like to buy a very basic email/internet computer for my grandmother who is 91 and has never used a computer before. All she would need it for is to email and MAYBE use internet if we can convince her it’s not too difficult. It can’t be the ASUS Eee because that screen would be too small, I think. And seriously, it would need nothing else – no microsoft word, no gaming, nothing. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Enormous News 2010 Another great new product by Tim Godfrey and Steve Clayton called Niche Blueprint 2.0 Review is coming out to help all of us marketers who are doing or want to do ecommerce storefronts. Let me ask you will you be there for the release, I already have my sport inline and I recommend that you do as well. Happy New Year 2010 everyone!

How about a Mac Mini? Hook it up to any flat-screen LCD monitor or a big-screen HDTV (one that can display fonts big enough for your grandmother), connect it to a router/broadband modem (wirelessly or wired), and she’s ready to rock. http://www.apple.com/macmini/

Paul C:

There are a number of things you can do. First ask around on net for easy/hard to set up computer with minimal programs/applications and find out what the basic system you can run and still use the Internet. If you have the Internet you can use email.
